Express your concerns to your publicly elected representatives and the Press. This is the opportunity. NOW is the time.

Join the discussion regarding negative impacts upon property values, disruption to businesses, interruption to traffic, safety issues, interference with Intracoastal Waterway commerce and trade, financial debt burden to the taxpayer, threat to wildlife habitats, environmental damage, high density population development, noise and vibration pollution, devastation to the marine industry, road re-routing, traffic congestion, delay in emergency and medical services, blocked access to hospitals and the bisecting of our peaceful small towns at 110 m.p.h. 32 times per day plus freight traffic.

AAF_cartoon
Billions of dollars will be spent by the taxpayer for a shell game operated by Seacastle, a subsidiary of Fortress LLC that owns shipping containers and mega cargo ships. With the widening of the Panama Canal, Miami will be the port from which massive amounts of freight will be offloaded onto freight cars and sent north on multiple tracks that will slice our towns in two.

All Aboard Florida is a bit player in this intermodal conglomerate that must have modern tracks ready by 2015. AAF is a front for government-loaned debt in order to upgrade and lay new tracks for the coming, massive freight industry. AAF has already applied for a $1.5 billion loan.
Fortress Hedge Fund puts profits above safety, the quality of life in our towns and the debt burden they will force us to assume.

-  Your AC4PR Team

Friday March 21st, 2014 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM

As a watchdog group, AC4PR needs to attend these meetings. We are losing representative government to the unelected bureaucrats of Seven 50. Our planning councils are being co-opted. We cannot remain silent.

Agenda item: All Aboard Florida

We need to line up and be prepared to present the case for just saying NO to All Aboard Florida. Cities and counties are forming coalitions and signing petitions to STOP AAF. This issue must be addressed firmly and factually using all the financial, environmental, high density population, noise, and all negative impact factors we have, to let the Council know that We the People are opposed to AAF coming to our towns and MOST of all, opposed to having a train stop in our low density population towns.

The Press Journal recently published: (Doug) Smith (Martin County commissioner who voted FOR Seven 50) sent a letter to Governor Scott stating that rail service would have “virtually no public benefits provided to communities north of Palm Beach County,” and asked for help in several areas to lessen the blow to the Treasure Coast. They include: Stations and stops in Martin, St. Lucie and Indian Rive counties.

We need to let Smith and his Seven 50 cronies know that WE DO NOT WANT TRAIN STOPS IN OUR SMALL TOWNS. We do not want the drugs and crime and high density population that the train will bring. We do not want Seven 50 ushered in to accommodate the redistributed population with their high rise stack-and-packs. DOT secretary Wolfe is on the Seven 50 Executive Committee. TCRPC shares building office space with the Congress for New Urbanism which includes developers Dover-Kohl & Andre Duany—the developers who will become wildly wealthy from this, at our expense, while Busha operates as a shill for the developers. What a cozy relationship. The train promotes Seven 50 and Seven 50 promotes the train. All at our expense and to the destruction of our communities paid with our tax dollars.

Under Public Comment: Accountability

Statements such as “Bypassing local government, that’s why we’re here” will NOT be tolerated. We are losing representative government to unelected bureaucrats and publicly elected officials as they are being co-opted by Seven 50 and pushing us toward Regionalism which indeed, bypasses local government.

Please continue to speak out against Seven 50 and All Aboard Florida.

AC4PR has achieved wonderful success removing 3 northern counties from Seven50. But we still have a lot of work remaining to remove many local city and municipal jurisdictions including the City of Sebastian. We plan to continue until we get a vote of the Council to withdraw from Seven50.

AC4PR has identified local speakers for the Public Comment segment of the meeting, but is extremely helpful to get large numbers of people to fill the Council chamber and display public interest in withdrawing from Seven50.

Public Comment is Item #11 on the meeting agenda, so it is very likely save to show up around 8:00 PM and still not miss the Public Comment section of the meeting.
